Graveside services for Virginia Dale Nickerson, 87, Ada, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Richard Bailey will officiate.
Mrs. Nickerson died Friday, July 1, 2016, at Ada Care Center. She was born Dec. 22, 1928, at Ada, to A.E. and Bertha Henderson McGowan. She graduated from Latta High School and was affiliated with Ada Free Will Baptist Church. She had served as a volunteer at Valley View Regional Hospital.
She and Johnie Nickerson were married June 20, 1947. He died Feb. 10, 1983.
Survivors include her four children, Johnnie Deewayne Nickerson and wife Wilma of Duncan, Linda Sampson of Ada, Phyllis Potter of Owasso and Beverly Pierce of Duncan; her sister, Bernice Bullard and husband Roy Lee of McAllen, Texas; her brother, Lyle McGowan and wife Charlotte of Tulsa; four grandsons, Wayne Sampson and wife Robin of Dallas, Texas, Billy Potter of Ada, Keith Potter and wife Misty, Owasso, and Shane Sampson and wife Chandra, Ada; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Vivan Nickerson, Ina Underwood and Lorna Tate.
Honorary bearers will be A.P. Nickerson, Lyle McGowan and her grandsons, J. Wayne Sampson, Billy Potter, Keith Potter and M. Shane Sampson.
