Mrs. Johnson passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at an Oklahoma City hospital. Her life journey began when she was born November 23, 1950, in Ada, OK to H.T. and Marion Gay. She graduated from Ada High School in 1969.

She married Bruce Johnson on December 11, 1970. Nancy dedicated 25 years of her professional life to education within the Ada City School District serving as a teacher’s aide/para-professional at the Ada Junior High School. She truly had patience and passion when it came to working with children, especially those with special needs. She loved to see children improve and always made it a priority for them to know that she truly cared. Nancy was always well liked and respected among her colleagues and gave her very best to support the school district, her teachers and students daily. She also served many summers as a camp counselor for the Ada Camp Fire’s Summer Camp Adaka.

Nancy loved spending time with her husband, Bruce and friends riding motorcycles as well as listening, singing or dancing to her favorite musical group Journey. She enjoyed being creative and was so talented when it came to arts and crafts. She also loved to cook and made the very best cinnamon toast and strawberry cakes around. Spending time with her grandchildren was one of her favorite things to do. She loved each of them with all her heart. She was so loved in return and will be missed by many.

Survivors include her son, Chris Johnson, and wife, Amber of Ada; daughter, Lisa Wilson of Denton, TX; brother, T.R. Gay of Jessie, OK; six grandchildren, Hayley Gregg, Ashley Gregg, Connor Johnson, Jalen Wilson, Jace Wilson and Jevin Wilson; a nephew, Carey Abercrombie; and two niece’s, Angela Haik and Maris Montoya.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Johnson and her parents.

Bearers will be Victor McDonald, Pat Mitchell, Ronnie Jordan, Lynn Walden, Chad Gray and Mitch Henley.
