Services for Michael (Mike) Lester Faulkenberry, 70, of Guthrie, formerly of the Ada area are 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Wayne Edgar will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Faulkenberry passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 at his home. He was born September 23, 1949 at Upland, CA to Lester and Pauline Yarberry Faulkenberry. Later in his teen years, he and his family moved to Ada. He graduated with honors from Vanoss High School in 1967. After high school, he met the love of his life and married Lawana Goodman December 28, 1974. He graduated from East Central University in 1977 with a Master’s Degree in Education.
After a brief stint in teaching in Ada, Mike attended Central State University and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in 1988 to get his certification as a Certified Public Accountant. He worked as a Bank Examiner for Oklahoma State Bank and retired in 2020 after 30 years of dedicated service.
Mike was a lifelong dedicated OU fan for a variety of sports. He enjoyed traveling and snorkeling with his wife. He also enjoyed watching “black and white” westerns. Retirement allowed him his other great joy handed down by his mother of gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Lawana, of Guthrie; his children, Michael Faulkenberry of Guthrie and Michelle Johnson and husband Eddie of Guthrie; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Christopher Faulkenberry of Guthrie and Matthew and Zachary Henry, and step-grandchildren, Emmitt, Mara and Levin; two sisters, Barbara Horton, Eufaula and Karen Skibsted, Ada; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his older brother, Kenneth Faulkenberry.
Bearers will be Matthew Henry, Zach Henry, Nicholas Faulkenberry, Christopher Faulkenberry, Jeff Farmer and Andy Kimbrell.
