Our hearts are heavy and with great sadness to share the loss of our beloved father Alberto S Camata. He passed away on Sept 25th, 2023 in Ada, OK at the age of 96 years old. A life so beautifully lived to be beautifully remembered. We thank the Lord for our blessings and sharing his life with us on earth.
Alberto "Tatay" Camata was born July 8th 1927 in Estancia, Malinao, Albay, Philippines the fourth of 7 children to Felix Camata and Liberata Serrano. He learned from his beloved parents the value of hard work, faith, and loyalty. At the age of 15 with only an intermediate school education he left his hometown of Estancia, Malinao, Albay and moved to a bigger city, Lucena City. With just his faith and God’s guidance and sharp mind, he worked as a house servant and assistant mechanic, while finishing his high school diploma. He worked hard at his mechanic skills and advanced to driving his own Jeepney.
It was driving his Jeepney that he met his wife Resurreccion Pisig Camata in Lucena Philippines. They raised 9 children together. He provided for his family in the Philippines as a Jeepney Driver. In 1985 he moved to the US to join his wife and became a naturalized citizen in 1993.
He worked as a custodial engineer at Kellwood in Pauls Valley and then Solo Cup in Ada. He earned an Employee of the Year at Solo Cup in 2009. He retired from Solo Cup in 2011 after 20 years at the age of 83 years old. He had a strong work ethic and loved working.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Resurreccion Pisig Camata in 2012, his 5 brothers Benito, Julian, Primo, Ben, and Teodolo.
Alberto was a very loving father, husband and grandfather. He was well known as "Tatay" to many. A hard worker to provide for his family in the Philippines and in Ada. He was an avid gardener and loved his yard work. He would say, “keep working to stay strong.”
Tatay was always happy and grateful for every day of his life. He was always doing things to help others. Whether it was getting food or mowing the yard, he was always willing to help. Tatay was so exuberant when he received gifts of any kind. He was so thankful and grateful someone thought of him. He always saw the silver lining in life.
May he always be remembered as a very hardworking man that was grateful for everyday of his life and proud of all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alberto is survived by his sisters Adela C. Boldovino and Remedios C. Buendia of Estancia, Malinao, Albay, Philippines. His Children: Rosalinda Jones of Paoli, Ok, Restituto P. Camata of San Jose, Ca, Carmelo P. Camata of Ada, OK, Cleofe C. Padlan of Pililla, Rizal, Philippines, Alberto P. Camata Jr, San Jose, CA, Raymund P. Camata Littleton, CO, Arnel P.
