Our mom left her earthly body at 7:30 in the morning on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 and entered the gates of heaven. Kathryn Jeanette Raper Brents, affectionately known as Judi was born April 24, 1939 in Ada, Oklahoma, she spent her school years in many different places. Some of her earliest school days were spent in Ecuador and South America while her father worked in the oilfield. She went on to attend schools in Fittstown, Oklahoma, Ada, Oklahoma, San Marcos, Texas, Stephens College in Springfield, Missouri and finished up at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She and her husband made Lafayette their home in the mid-1970’s. Numbers were her thing and she loved to play cards, number games and balance/reconcile anything she could. During her working years she worked as a secretary, business teacher and a tax preparer. Her business skills really flourished and played an integral part in partnering with her husband in owning and operating a financial services business. She was an energetic lady who loved to spend time with and travel with family and friends, especially spending cool summers with her husband in San Francisco. She loved music and always had a song in her heart and often made her friends laugh when she belted out songs that always seemed to fit what was going on at the time. She loved her community and was very involved with her church First Baptist Lafayette. It was important to her to help others learn and know about Christ and the difference He can make in your life. She was a prayer partner for many and actively involved in the prayer ministry firmly believing that there is incredible power in prayer. She served on various committees at church and was a fixture at Tuesday night visitations. She also devoted time to helping many others in dealing with grief thru the Grief Share program at her church.
