Services for Melvina Alene Ballard, 93, of Ada are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Brother Bill Burns will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada.
Mrs. Ballard died Friday, October 9, 2015 at a Norman hospital. She was born February 4, 1922 at Clayton, OK to James Samuel and Maggie Ellen Lee Gardner. She attended Vanoss School and graduated from Vanoss High School.
She married W. A. “Dub” Ballard April 9, 1943. He preceded her in death October 5, 2005. Mrs. Ballard was a bookkeeper for McCurley-Bayless Drug Store in Ada and later she was a manager for a 7-11 Convenience Store in Del City for several years. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Wilma Hatton and her husband Douglas of Seminole, Martha Jordan of Kentucky and Joanne Dean and her husband David of Moore; a son, Garry Ballard of Seminole; her grandchildren, Susie Williams, Chad Sorrels, Gene Paul Reeves, Gwendolyn Sikes, Robin Horton, Matthew Hatton, Rachel Howard, Alisha Phillips, Chant’al Himdnan, Shelly Madden and Tracy Gourley; her great-grandchildren, Rickey, Brandon, Alisha and Nickey Horton; Brantley Hatton, Chandler Williams, Jagger Williams, Keele Howard, and Joshua, Chase, Braddy, and Kaden Sorrels and Alana Townsend; her great-great-grandchildren, Taylan Horton, Isaac Horton, Macy Williams and Conner Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; four sisters; a daughter, Gwendolyn Sorrels; and two grandsons, Tracy Harjo and James Williams.
