Services for Betty Lou Ayres, 90, of Ada are 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Jo Rhodes will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Ada.
Betty Lou Ayres (Weston was her maiden name) passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday evening, August 19, 2018. A native Oklahoman, Betty was born in Wewoka, OK on April 16th 1928. She attended Union Hill Elementary and Vanoss High School.
On July 28th, 1945, Betty married Leon (Buddy) Ayres, a long time Ada business man. They were married for 69 years.
Later on, after raising her children, Mrs. Ayres went back to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from East Central University in 1967. She then began her teaching career. Her first 2 years of teaching was at Byars Elementary in Byars, OK.
Mrs. Ayres then began teaching 4th and 5th grades at Pickett Center Elementary School and continued teaching there until she retired in 1984.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Linda Shirallie of Edmond, OK; a son, Terry Ayres of Bella Vista, AR; a son-in-law, Kooresh Shirallie of Edmond, OK; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Ayres of Bella Vista, AR; 5 grandchildren, Abby Shirallie of Dallas, TX, Ruby, Pearl and Jade Ayers of Bella Vista, AR, Christiana Ayres of Inyo, CA.
Pall bearers will be Myles Deering of Norman, OK, Kirby Williams of Joshua, TX. Honorary pall bearers are Robert Loftin of Weskan, KS, Mark Zamudio of Sapulpa, OK, Glen Standridge of Grants Pass, OR, Frankie Bolin and Brandon Bolin, both of Ada, OK, Derek Bolin of Adair, OK and Sam Standridge of Hermosa Beach, CA.
