Services for Charlene Black Spitler, 93, of Weatherford, Texas will be at 2:00 PM at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Ada OK Saturday, August 31, 2024. Burial to follow in Lula Cemetery, Lula, OK.

Charlene passed this life Saturday, August 24, 2024 in Weatherford Texas. She was born February 7, 1931 in Perryton, Texas to Audie Washington and Frankie Ellen Tomlin Black.

Charlene was a graduate of Muleshoe High School and Plainview Business School. She married O.D. Spitler on March 17, 1949 in Muleshoe Texas.

Charlene was a wife, homemaker, mother, business owner and partner, an amazing seamstress and talented quilter. She loved playing games with the grandkids and teaching them to dance in the kitchen. She was a member of North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford Texas.

She is survived by: four children; Darla Spitler Wofford, Allen OK, Denise Spitler and husband John Wessler, Weatherford TX, Steven and wife Tammy Spitler, Aledo TX and Keven and wife Tracy Spitler, Ione CA; six grandchildren; Laura Ross Sanders, Julie Ross Pittman, Craig Wofford, Jana Wofford Walley-Kellum, Daniel Spitler and Molly Spitler; six great Grandchildren; Riley Sanders, Reed Walley, Sara Kate Walley, Grace Pittman, Luke Pittman and Gage Pittman.

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband O.D., grandson Keith Wofford and brother Carroll Dean Black.

Bearers are Craig Wofford, Daniel Spitler, Reed Walley, Eric Kellum, Wyatt Walker and Gentry Cantrell.

The family requests that Mrs. Spitler’s service is a celebration of a long and productive life. She gave of herself to family and friends caring not only for her four children but also grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a ready smile, big hugs and created an atmosphere of caring in her home. She is leaving a legacy of love and persistence to all her family and those who knew her.
