Services for Benny Ray Shumard, 71, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Criswell Funeral Home, Rev. Rodger Arter will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery near Roff. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Shumard passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020. He was born June 16, 1948 at Ada to Harvey and Imogene Stephens Shumard. He lived in this area all his life and graduated from Latta High School in 1966.
He married Susie Ray Grissom December 29, 2009 at Byng. Mr. Shumard was a truck driver and had also been a police officer. He was of the Baptist faith and had served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Shumard enjoyed camping and fishing and making knives. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Susie, of Roff; a son, Bryan Shumard, Henderson, NV; a daughter, Melissa McQuiston and husband Ray, Ada; his mother, Imogene Shumard; a grandson, Gage McQuiston, Ada; granddaughter, Macy McQuiston, Ada; two sisters, Beverly Hanson and husband Sam, Hugo and Joyce Arter and husband Rodger, Ada; a brother, Ronnie Shumard, Broken Arrow; and his special little running buddy, Colt and their sidekick, Missy; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Bearers will be Gage McQuiston, Chase Counts, Jonathon Shumard, Kacey Grissom, Hunter Mills and Brandt Davidson.
