Services for Vera Wanette Rhea Morrison, 84, of Roff are 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Freedom Worship Center in Roff, Rev. Cary Gerth and Sister Theresa Ray will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Morrison passed away peacefully from this life Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at her home. She was born February 7, 1938 in Emit, OK to J. T. and Kathryn Marie Robertson Rhea.

She married Jackie Nichols in 1954 and remained married until his death May, 1977. Together they had 6 children. Vera married her second husband, Frank Morrison August 1977. They remained married until his death December 2004.

As a young girl, her family moved to California where they resided until the age of 13. Her family then moved back to Oklahoma and resided in the Latta area for a few years and she then moved to Roff where she resided as a citizen until her passing, which was close to 70 years.

Vera was what most would call a servant. She worked from the age of 16-80. She worked in the Roff Nursing Home and Roff School as a Cook. She worked in housekeeping at several hotels. Her last job, she worked as a CNA and provider through Medcorp for over 20 years providing care for the disabled and elderly, although most of her patients were younger than her.

Vera was a member of the Roff Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 40 years. During this time, she was Sunday School teacher for the little ones, she sang in the choir and would often sing specials. Vera had six children, five step-children, 31 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, J. T. Rhea; mother, Marie Gahagan; step-father, Gilbert Gahagan; daughter, Donna Tatum; grandsons, Jasson Morrison and Jeffrey Leonard; granddaughters, Jackie Adams and Libby Baxter; a great-granddaughter; a great-grandson; four sisters, Christine, Sharon, Glenale and Charlotte; and three brothers, Carl Jr., Harold and Robert.

She is survived by a son, James Nichols, Stonewall; four daughters, Phyllis Morrison and husband Frank, Roff, Andrea Tatum, Roff, Christy Dorrough, Roff, and Lura Sheppard and husband Kevin, Roff; five step-children, Charlotte, Sue, Marjorie, Arlus and Frank.

Bearers will be Dalton Madden, Garon Sheppard, Clifton Elrod, Jordan Ross, John Ross and Josh Morrison. Honorary bearers will be Colten Madden, Kevin Sheppard, Matthew Muck, Patrick Morrison and Johnny Elrod.
