Melvin Dale Haworth, 85, of Ada went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, May 19, 2019, following a brief illness.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Ada, Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Melvin was born April 11, 1934 in Ada to Nathan Lewis and Mary Opal Ramsey Haworth. He moved to California in March of 1942. Following a remarkable career with the Federal Aviation Administration, he returned to Ada in 1989.
Melvin and Jeanie Loraine Stanaland were married June 19, 1951 in Reno, NV. Melvin and Jeanie were blessed with five daughters: Jeanene Burns (Arkansas), Janell Desmond (Oregon), Leah Collins (California), Laura Allen (Arkansas), and Sarah Hilton (Oklahoma). Melvin is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife in November, 2012, and by his grandson, Jeremy David Desmond, in January 2000.
Bearers will be Billy Allen (son-in-law), Bradley Collins (great-grandson), Nathan Collins (great-grandson), Zeke Collins (son-in-law), Billy Hilton (son-in-law), and Parker Hilton (grandson).
