Services for Evelyn M. Deatherage, 87, Durant, Oklahoma, formerly of Ada, are 2:00 p.m. Friday at Southwest Church of Christ, David Dirram will officiate. Burial will follow at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Deatherage died Friday, December 21, 2012, at a Durant nursing home. She was born March 5, 1925 to Jess Almay Martin and Gladys Elizabeth Asselstine. She attended Pickett and Vanoss Schools. She married Louis Benjamin Deatherage on January 29, 1944 in Ada, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1986. Mrs. Deatherage was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Southwest Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Garry Deatherage of Stonewall; six daughters, Laura Taylor and husband Steve of Canyon, Texas, Linda Smith of Stonewall, Marilyn Gobert of Kenefic, Oklahoma, Gayla Whittington and husband Roy of Stratford, Katrina Deatherage of Ada and Stacy Craber and husband Mark of Spring, Texas; two brothers, Lloyd Martin and wife Sharon of Tecumseh, Oklahoma and Kenneth Martin and wife Willie of Ranier, Washington; two sisters, Geneva Ailey of Meeker, Oklahoma and Betty Ballard and husband Billy of Ada; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis “Ben” Deatherage; parents, Jess and Gladys Martin; brother, Charles Martin; sister, Margarite Deatherage and two grandsons. Pall bearers are Markus Craber, Nathan Gobert, Cody Teegarden, Bruce Hodges, Jeremy McCain and Chris Roland. Obituaries may be viewed and online condolences sent to criswellfh.com.
