Paul Edward Walkup “PODGE”, a loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 88 in Mustang, Oklahoma on October 4th, 2022.

Paul was born in Clarita, Coal County, Oklahoma on June 22,1934. He is preceded in death by his mother, Etheleen S. Walkup, his father, Edward Leo Walkup and many of his brothers, sisters and cousins. Paul is survived by his daughter, Susan G. Underwood and her spouse Chris Underwood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His son, Jason E. Walkup and his spouse Tiffany Walkup of Mustang, Oklahoma and his two grandchildren, Sophia Walkup and Kelsey Jones.

Paul was a veteran of the US Navy who served in the Korean War. He was decorated with a National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Korean Service Medal.

He also held a cosmetology license as a barber and was also a certified welder.

He worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas, retiring in 1992 after many years of service.

He volunteered at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center, helping the community and medical staff.

He also delivered food to the less fortunate around the holiday season.

Paul loved spending time with family, celebrating his Choctaw heritage, hiking, classical and country music, fine art, poetry, gardening, wood working, leather working, history, oceanography and astronomy. He also enjoyed watching sports, such as: Oklahoma City Thunder Basketball, Dallas Cowboys football, Oklahoma University football and the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey.

He was very dedicated to helping others, supporting family and providing a positive influence in this world. He will be missed greatly.

Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery, Stonewall, Oklahoma on Thursday, October 6th, 2022 at 2:00pm.
