Services for Violet Marie Sliger, 87, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Ada First Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Jim Knight will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Violet went to join her husband, Robert A. (Bob) (Tallboy) Sliger on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Ada. She was born February 22, 1929 to Henry and Minola Akin Shelton and married Robert Sliger March 15, 1951. He preceded her in death February 21, 2016.
Mrs. Sliger stayed home with her children until they were old enough and then she went to work at Valley View Regional Hospital in Ada as the switchboard supervisor until her retirement. She was a longtime active member of the Ada Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Sliger, along with her husband spent her life working to take care of her family. She took great pride in her home and her family. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning and helping care for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Janice Childress and husband Martin of Ada, Bobby Sliger and fiancé, Kathy Bruner of Kentucky and Linda Long and husband Jeff of Ada; her sister, Bernadine OBrien of Ada; nine grandchildren, Misty Hudnall of Wewoka, Sean Childress and fiancé, Tisha Raney of Ada, Chad Sliger of Stonewall, Chris Sliger and wife Jessica of Ada, Jenae Micozzi and husband Mark of Ada, Tiffani Dickinson and husband Russell of Ada, Robert Long and wife Bobby Jean of Ada, Jayce Chancellor and husband Jerald of Sulphur and Jarrod Jackson of Ada; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sherry Jackson; sister, Sue Johnson; five brothers, Clell Shelton, Bobby Gene Shelton, Billy Ray Shelton, Teddy John Shelton and Jerry Don Shelton; and most recently her husband of63 years, Bob Sliger.
Bearers will be Chad Sliger, Chris Sliger, Sean Childress, Robert Long, Jarrod Jackson and Tanner Hudnall. Honorary bearers will be Eli Sliger, Parker Deliz and Samuel Deliz.
