Funeral services for Bruce Cameron Scott, 92, of Stonewall, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24th at Stonewall First Baptist Church with Rev. JP Williams officiating, assisted by Rev. Richard Dickerson and Rev. Duane Riley. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Criswell Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23.
Bruce went to be with his Savior on September 18th, 2022.
He was born June 15, 1930 at Roff, Oklahoma to Herman (Mick) and Effie (Murphy) Scott. He attended Union Valley Grade School and Stonewall High School, graduating in 1948. On October 10th, 1954, he married June Riley at Stonewall.
Bruce loved to play baseball and continued doing so several years after high school. He also helped coach little league baseball as an adult.
After serving in the National Guard and being honorably discharged, Bruce then served in the US Army shortly after the outbreak of the Korean war. During the war he served 14 months in Korea with the 78th AAA battalion. He received his final discharge from the US Army Reserve in 1959.
He was a longtime member of Stonewall First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was music director for 16 years along with his wife June.
He enjoyed his work in the oilfield equipment and supply business, continuing to even work part time until he was 89. The majority of his career was spent with Arrow Pump and Supply Co.
Bruce is survived by his wife, June, of 67 years, his brother Gerald (Doc) and Christine Scott of Harrisonville, Missouri, and sister Judy Johnson of Arlington Texas. He is also survived by his children, David and Julie Scott of Stonewall, Steve and Jane Scott of Tulsa, Jeanne and TD Teel of Ada and grandchildren Greg Scott, Rebecca Scott, Bryan Scott, Jacob Scott, Cason Teel, Sarah Scott, and Megan Bare-Scott and 3 great-grandchildren along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jimmie Scott and sister Mary Beth Hunsucker.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Stonewall First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Stonewall-McLish Education Foundation.
