Services for H. D. "Bo" Newberry, 81, of Plano, TX, formerly of the Stonewall area are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Rob Granger of Escondido, CA will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery near Stonewall. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Newberry passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at a Plano, TX hospital. He was born November 15, 1935 at Frisco, OK to Frank and Beatrice Wright Newberry. He graduated from Stonewall High School and attended Connors State College on a basketball scholarship.

He married Jerry Lou Ganus March 12, 1955. Mr. Newberry retired from Phillips Petroleum after 41 years of service in offshore drilling construction management. While working for Phillips, he lived in many states and countries including Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, New Mexico, Alaska, Texas, Norway, Belgium, China and Korea. Mr. Newberry was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Jerry, of the home; two daughters, Robin Nelson and husband Jim of Ada and Kelly Tisdal of Allen, TX; his grandchildren, Kyle Nelson and wife Jessica of Oklahoma City and Derek Nelson and partner Fiona of San Francisco, CA; two great-grandchildren, Zander Nelson and Presley Nelson; one sister, Barbara Markham of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Frank “Nute” Newberry, Jr. of Ada and Jesse Newberry of Florida.

Bearers will be Jim Nelson, Kyle Nelson, Tim Eshleman, Terry Newberry, Jody Newberry, Kevin Newberry and Terry Chandler. Honorary bearers will be Derek Nelson, Zander Nelson, Calbert Taylor, Bob Simmons, Pete Mason and George Welch.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to: PAWS, (Pontotoc Animal Welfare Society), 1200 Sandy Creek Drive, Ada, OK 74820.
