Services for Ruth Ellen Griffin, 63, of Stonewall, are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Stonewall First Baptist Church, 330 Harrison Street. Rev. Randy Craig of Ft. Smith, AR will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery at Stonewall.

Mrs. Griffin died Monday, January 13, 2014 at a local … She married William Griffin on October 31, 1966 in McAlester. Mrs. Griffin was currently the Administrative Programs Officer at the Pontotoc County Health Department, where she had worked for 27 years. Before joining the Health Department, she was employed at Blue Bell for several years and had also worked for the Stonewall School System as a teacher’s aide. She was a member of the Oklahoma Public Employees Association and active with the Special Olympics at Stonewall. She participated in the Relay for Life every year.

Survivors include her husband, William Chester Griffin, of the home; two sons, William Chester Griffin, Jr. and wife Rashnah of Largo, FL, and Craig Irvin Griffin and wife, Marlis Osborne of Stonewall; three grandchildren, William Chester Griffin, III of Largo, FL, Courtney Griffin of Roff, and Kendra Ruth Ellen Griffin of Stonewall; a sister, Elizabeth McGee and her partner, Jon Shirley of Seven Points, TX; and a brother, Robert E. Craig and wife Lisa of Yukon.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to Ellen’s favorite charities, the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718; or the Stonewall Special Olympics, c/o Stonewall Public Schools, 600 S. High School, Stonewall, OK 74871.

Bearers will be Ronnie Barnes, Terry Barnes, Eddie Barnes, Robert Griffin, Howard Smith, Eddie Nolen and Don Thompson.
