Keeble (Sliger) Bennett

Graveside services for Keeble Sliger Bennett, 95, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Highland Cemetery, Stonewall. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bennett passed away Saturday, January 4, 2020 at a Knoxville hospital. Keeble lived at Trinity Hills Assisted Living Center for the past three and a half years after moving to be near her family. She enjoyed every day, but especially Saturdays for bingo and Sundays for Sunday School and Worship services sponsored by Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church. She still loved playing the piano.

She was born October 23, 1924 at the Owl Creek Community to Charlie M. and Anna M. Thompson Sliger. One morning when she was about nine years of age she was at the barn where her mother was milking and she said “Momma, I don’t feel right inside me.” Her mother led her to the Lord. She was a longtime member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Ada.

She married Wilburn E. Bennett January 23, 1944 and he left for the Navy in May of 1944. Their first born was Towanah Elaine Bennett, born and died a few hours later on January 16, 1947. Wilburn passed away October 2, 2011.

Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Phillips and husband Hubert; grandson, Kent Phillips and wife Traci; granddaughter, Lori Allen and husband Dan; great-grandson, Ryan Phillips; and great-granddaughters, Madison Phillips and Mikayla Dye, all of Knoxville, TN.
