Graveside services for Thomas Wayne Alcorn, 72, of Ada, are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery near Stonewall, Solomon Gantt will officiate. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Alcorn passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at a Talihina Veterans Center after battling a long surge of pneumonia. He has fought Alzheimers disease for approximately eight years. He was born May 1, 1942 in Stonewall to Arthur and Mary Elizabeth Smith Alcorn. He attended Ada schools.
He married Donna Kay Smith on November 22, 1966 in Denison, TX. Mr. Alcorn was a delivery man for Frito Lay and he had served in the U. S. Army. We want everyone to remember him as we do The smiling, friendly Frito-Lay man. He spent his life working very diligently and working was 110%. He retired from Frito-Lay after 28 years of service. He then spent his time rocking and playing with grandchildren and as many foster children as he could hold in his lap. He loved the outdoors and fishing, but mostly talking and smiling to everyone he met.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Smith, of the home; two sons, Keith Wayne Alcorn and wife Crystal and Dan Thomas Alcorn and wife Halie, both of Alex; two daughters, Tammy Renay Cunningham and husband Howard of Chickasha and Christy McElroy and husband Jeremy of Cement; two brothers, Lindell Alcorn and wife Billie Lois of Jack Fork, OK, and William Alcorn and wife Malacha of Farmers Branch, TX; three sisters, Jody Foster of Calera, Mary Ann Buchanan of Stonewall and Rosa Lee Newton and husband Van of Durant; 15 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Alcorn; and a sister, Archie Dean Grissom.
Bearers will be his grandsons, Dalton Alcorn, Dawson Alcorn, Cody Riley, Hunter Alcorn, Braydon McElroy, Tanner McElroy and Chaz Alcorn.
