Services for Mona “Elaine” Frazier Whelchel, 72, of Ada are 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Randy Golden will officiate. Burial will follow at High Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and relatives from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday September 8, 2020 at Criswell Funeral Home.

Ms. Whelchel died Friday, September 4, 2020 at a local hospital. She was born August 26, 1948 in Ada to Reubin and Murial Denoya Bell Frazier. She graduated from Ada High School.

She received her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Education from East Central University. Ms. Whelchel was a retired teacher. She was the Johnson O’Malley Indian Tutor for Pickett Center School Headstart, and was a first grade teacher at Francis and Homer Schools. She attended Ahloso Baptist Church, a member of O.E. A., N. E. A. and Byng B. F. A.

Survivors include a son, Anthony Whelchel of Ada; a daughter, Amy Frances Whelchel, of the home; grandson, she raised, Daniel Lewis Whelchel, Ada; grandson, William Colson Whelchel, Ada; two granddaughters, Adrianna Delozier, Ada and Emily Whelchel, Ada; four sisters, Peggy Dansby, Ada, Frances Fortner, Lula, Gail Glase, Ada and Sharon Barnes Kendrick, Ada.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Ernest Reubin Frazier.
