Mr. Bateman, a longtime Fittstown resident passed peacefully at his home. Charlie as known by most was born August 12, 1944 in Vallejo, CA to Agnes and Floyd Bateman.
Charles attended and graduated from Tupelo High School where he met his first wife, Patricia Compton and they had a daughter, Candy Bateman. As things go, he later married a second wife, Peggy Lampkin and had three more children: David, Eddie and Jeanie Bateman. Charles later married Kathleen Compton, to them no children were born. Charlie was a hard worker but marched to the beat of his own drum. He loved being his own boss and was a perfectionist at what he did whether it was building fences for others, or cutting and chopping firewood for himself and others. He loved his garden, the outdoors, and his many animals.
Charlie is survived by his children, Candy Eidson, Fittstown, David Bateman, Oklahoma City, Eddie Bateman, Oklahoma City, and Jeanie Lazono, Oklahoma City; his grandchildren, Levi Eidson, Fittstown; Jonathan, Brittany and Christopher Bateman; Hannah, Matthew and Alex Bateman; Michael, Cameron and Aidan Lazono; and five great grandchildren.
