Loritta (Besherse) Wingard

Services for Loritta Wingard, 86, of Fitzhugh, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Fitzhugh, Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Roff. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wingard died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at an Ada nursing home. She was born December 31, 1927 in Ringling, Oklahoma to William Haskell and Josephine Jones Besherse. She graduated from Claypool High School, west of Ringling.

She married James Wingard August 12, 1949 in Gainesville, Texas. Mrs. Wingard was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Fitzhugh Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James Wingard, of the home; a son, Travis Wingard and his wife Jeannie of Ada; three daughters, Linda Vassar and her husband Bill of Cushing, Glenda McCurdy and her husband Paul “Butch” of Sulphur, and Sandra Wingard of Holdenville; two brothers, Frank Besherse of Lone Grove and Haskell Besherse of Waurika; two sisters, her twin, Loretta Price of Wilson and Deanna Williams of Ringling; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Wingard, Jonathan Wingard, Jessica Ballard, Jeremy Wingard, Madison Wingard, Chris McCurdy, Andrew McCurdy and Laura Morgan; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Helen Hart.

Bearers will be her four grandsons, Jonathan Wingard, Jeremy Wingard, Chris McCurdy and Andrew McCurdy; and Chuck Roberts and Joey Morrow. Honorary bearers will be her granddaughters, Jennifer Wingard, Jessica Ballard, Madison Wingard and Laura Morgan; and the Men’s Class of Fitzhugh Baptist Church.
