Services for James Lee Wingard, 90, of Fitzhugh are 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Fitzhugh Baptist Church, Rev. Steve Wilburn will officiate. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery at Roff. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Wingard passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at a local hospital. He was born December 18, 1926 at Leonard, TX to Lester and Myrtie Campbell Wingard. He graduated from Latta High School.
He married Loritta Besherse August 12, 1949 at Gainesville, TX. She preceded him in death August 17, 2014. Mr. Wingard was a self-employed Dairy Farmer and a member of Fitzhugh Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Travis Wingard and wife Jeannie of Ada; three daughters, Linda Vassar and husband Bill of Cushing, Glenda McCurdy and husband Butch of Sulphur and Sandra Wingard of Holdenville; a sister, Betty Jean Pruitt of Chickasha; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Wingard, Jonathan Wingard, Jessica Ballard, Jeremy Wingard, Madison Wingard, Chris McCurdy, Andrew McCurdy and Laura Morgan; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Clyde Wingard.
Bearers will be his grandsons: Jonathan Wingard, Jeremy Wingard, Chris McCurdy and Andrew McCurdy; and Lathan Ballard, Chuck Roberts and Joey Morrow. Honorary bearers will be Charles Morrow, Mel Bradford, Ronnie Tidwell, Shane Ellis and his Sunday School Class members.
