Services for Alvin L. Tidwell, 95, of Roff will be Thursday, July 13 at 10:00 am at Criswell Funeral Home. Interment will be at East Hill Cemetery in Roff. Mr. Tidwell passed Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at a Sulphur hospital. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 12 from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Alvin Luther Tidwell was born February 15, 1928 in Fort Worth, Texas to Luther and Lillie Summers Tidwell. He was raised from age two by his “Dad” George Tolliver. Alvin T graduated early from Hickory High School in 1946 in order to join the US Navy, where he served from February 1946 and honorably discharged in December 1947.

Alvin and Ada Colleene Nye were married on September 15, 1948 in Gainsville, Texas. She passed away two months short of their 50th anniversary on July 14, 1998. Early in their marriage, Alvin worked in the oil fields of Oklahoma, but returned to Roff in 1960 and was a fixture in the Roff community. He was an oil instrument technician for many years for West Instrument Company; additionally, he worked many years as a rural mail carrier in the Roff area. He enjoyed Roff School activities especially basketball and baseball. He also cooked many hamburgers for tournaments through the years. Alvin was a 60-year member of the Roff Masonic Lodge where he served in various capacities.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife, grandchildren Jared Weiberg and Shae Bates Brackett and brother Paul Tolliver.

He is survived by his five children: Alvina Weiberg (Mick), Linda Martin (Jerry Don), Laura Standley (Jay), Bubba Tidwell (Madonna) and Ron Tidwell (Janet). Also surviving are grandchildren: Chad Weiberg, Brett Weiberg, Chase Tidwell, Trent Tidwell, Ronna Clark, Ryan Tidwell, Jaxi Martin, Laina Turpin and Brady Bates; great-grandchildren: Ella Weiberg, Grant Weiberg, Cole Weiberg, Jayden Weiberg, Cash Weiberg, Kyndall Tidwell, Kayli Tidwell, Teagan Tidwell, Kolbi Clark, Addie Clark, Emma Tidwell, Easton Tidwell, Boston Smith and Creede Turpin; and brother Louis Tolliver (Olivia). We also recognize his caregivers for the last few years Linda Webster and Mike Bradley. Grandsons will be Pall Bearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Roff Educational Enrichment Foundation (REEF) at PO Box 157, Roff, OK 74865.
