Albert “Al” Ray Robertson, 77, of Aqaba, Jordan, former Stonewall resident, passed away in Oklahoma City on January 19, 2024.

He was born in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, on February 28, 1946, to James Monroe Robertson and Hannah Golden Robertson, the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Nelagoney Schools and was a member of the first class of Oral Roberts University in 1965.

He served a tour of duty in Viet Nam in 1967-68, leaving military service with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Returning to Tulsa to resume college study at ORU, he met and married Anita Blackwell of Ada on December 27, 1968. They recently celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary.

For most of his adult life, Al was a minister, serving as associate pastor at Woodlake Assembly of God in Tulsa and pastor in three Tulsa-area Assemblies of God. He and his wife Anita started a framed wall décor business, The Scribe and Scroll, from 1980 to 1995. In 2003, he and Anita moved to Stonewall, and he went to school to become a sewing machine repairman who helped many seamstresses and quilters in the Pontotoc County area. In 2021, they moved to the Middle East on assignment from God. He was in America for routine surgery when an unexpected health condition occurred.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Leroy, Kendall, and Wayne and two sisters, Leora Reed and Bonnie Harmon. Surviving him are his sister, Norma Jean Newby of Blanchard, Oklahoma, his wife Anita of Aqaba, his daughter Alisa Miller-Martinez (Simon) of Tulsa, and his son Aaron Robertson (Brandy) of Hillsboro, Texas. His grandchildren Max Miller of Tulsa, Chloe Robertson, and Dax Robertson of Hillsboro also survive him, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Private burial will be in Frisco Cemetery, with memorial services held in Ada at 2:00 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday and Carbondale Assembly of God in Tulsa at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
