Regina Carol (Pevehouse) Crawford July 2, 1953 - July12, 2020 © Dignity Memorial Submitted by: Jo Aguirre
Our Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandma Gina, and Nawna, Regina Carol Crawford, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 12, 2020. She was 67 years old.
Graveside service will be held at Center Community Cemetery in Center, Ponotoc County, Oklahoma on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m., with Brother Royce Smith and Brother Clay Swanson officiating. A visitation will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral home in Oklahoma City on Tuesday evening, July 14 from 5:00-8:00.
Regina was born on July 2, 1953, in Alemeda, California, to Melvin and Peggy Gibson Pevehouse. She was their 3rd child, preceded by a sister Donna Ray, and a brother, Douglas Melvin. Regina grew up in the “Bay Area” of California, and graduated from Tennyson High School in 1971.
Thankfully, Regina grew up in church, faithfully attending Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Hayward, California. She asked Jesus into her heart to be her personal savior around the age of 11. It was there she met the love of her life, Michael Crawford. They dated, and after Michael returned from serving in Vietnam, they were married on June 24, 1972 there at the church. Recently they celebrated 48 years of marriage. Mike and Regina loved each other fiercely. They always had each other’s backs. Mom and Dad went through some hard times as many couples did. Not once did they consider ending their marriage. They were each other’s best friends through thick and thin. We are so thankful for the example Mom and Dad set of staying committed to each other.
Regina was a stay at home mom beginning when they had their first child, a daughter, Jennifer. They would go on to have 2 more girls, Julie and Kristi. She briefly sold Home Interiors and Gifts. Other than Home Interiors, Mom stayed home while we were in school. We are so thankful for that. In the late 80s, Regina attended Western Oklahoma Area Vo-Tech and became an LPN. She worked in Nursing Homes Tstal Health Care for 12 years and at Valley View Hospital in Ada, Oklahoma. She loved her patients and cared for them greatly. Later, Regina would return home to be a homemaker. Mom loved to cook and try new recipes. One of our favorites was Cattleman’s Casserole. Some of you reading this no doubt have tasted it before.
Regina’s hobbies and pastimes included colleting figurines from Home Interiors. She also loved to crotchet. She made countless gifts for her family and friends. Her most treasured pastime was being around her grandchildren Kayla, William, Rachel, Jack, Gracie, Seth, Ivy, Elly, and Sophie. Many times Grandma Gina and Nawna could be found rocking the grandchildren while quietly singing church hymns to them. She loved to cheer her grandkids. She was very interested in whatever they were doing.
While raising the girls, Regina and Mike were active in several Missionary Baptist Churches. For the last several years, she and Dad were active members of Bethel Baptist Church in Choctaw, Oklahoma where she played organ and piano. My sisters and I are very thankful for the example Mom laid before us to faithfully attend church and worship her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Regina ALWAYS prayed before each meal, often setting the example for others. She could be seen with her head bowed, asking for blessings on what she was about to eat and praying for her family.
Regina is survived by her love and husband of 48 years Michael, of the home; her mother Peggy, of Moore; daughter Jennifer Swanson and husband Clay, of Seminole; Julie Haskins and husband Bryan, of Newcastle; Kristi Crawford and Yuri Lopez, of Mustang; grandchildren Kayla Grayson and husband Nathanial, William Swanson, Rachel and husband Thaddaeus Starbuck, Jack Crawford, Gracie Haskins, Seth Haskins, Ivy Lopez, Elly Haskins, and Sophie Haskins. Our Grandma Gina and Nawna also had 2 great grandchildren, Sterling and Flynn Grayson; and was expecting her 3rd great grandchild from Thaddaeus and Rachel in early January. She is also survived by a special sister, Kim Tucker of Sasakwa, along with many nieces and nephews.
Regina was preceded in death by her older sister Donna; her father Melvin; and brother Doug.
While our hearts are hurting and death is stinging, we can rejoice in knowing our daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother is no longer in pain. We rejoice in knowing she has seen her Lord and Savior. She has been reunited with her sister that she never got to meet. She is also reunited with her dad, whom she missed dearly and her big brother Doug who she adored. Time and space would not permit us to list the many friends and loved ones that she was also reunited with…..Oh Glad Reunion Day!
