Services for Bobby Vernon Hooser, 88, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Revs. Earl Scroggins and Dean Stone will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery near Francis. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home.
Mr. Hooser passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at his home. He was born August 8, 1928 at the Cedar Grove Community near Francis to Claude Vernon and Ina Ollie Brandon Hooser. Bobby grew up west of Ada and graduated from Vanoss High School in 1946.
Bobby joined the Army after high school and served in Korea. He joined the Air Force Reserve and was recalled to active Duty. Bobby worked in the oilfield and construction industry and was the owner and operator of Bob’s Backhoe Service.
He married Pat Adams and had five children, Cecyl Pauline Cheney, Cheryl Lynn Henderson, Carol Ann Kolojaco and twins Marvin (Pete) Hooser and Ina (Bambi) Millward.
In 1975, he married Clara Bell Scroggins Smith. Her three children are Terry Charles Smith, Debbie Sue Hooser, and Cheryl Ann Yott.
Bobby attended East Central University after his retirement, as a beginning freshman. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and was awarded a Phi Alpha Theta. Bobby’s most rewarding experience was being a member of the Gideon’s International. He was a member of Harmony Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Clara, of the home; seven children, Cecyl Chaney, Alaska, Cheryl Henderson, TX, Marvin “Pete” Hooser and wife Linda, TX, Bambi Millward, TX, Terry Smith and wife Sandy of Ada, Debbie and John Hooser of Westville, and Cheryl and Wayne Yott, Konawa; siblings, Tommy Kenneth, Eugenia, Sammy Leon and John Boyce; 20 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Clyde Hooser, Claude Hooser, Virginia, Joe Allen, Sue Arlene and Judy; and a daughter, Carol Ann.
Bearers will be Derrick Plumadore, Wesley Cater, Preston Smith, Danny Manuel, Kenney Dalton and Joe Thomas.
