Renae Ann Peoples passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at a local hospital. She was born December 10, 1967 in Ada to Laverne Watson and Cleo Peoples.
Renae attended and graduated from Ada High School in 1989. She also attended The Adult Day Care Center for twenty years where she found her passion and purpose in life. While attending, she learned daily living skills such as putting dishes in the dishwasher, learning how to start the washing machine and folding laundry after it was dry. On Sunday nights, she would always say, “Well, I gotta hit it!” It was an indication that she knew time was drawing near when she would be with her friends and those she loved (and loved her). She gained from her attendance an opportunity to remain in her home with her family, living in the least restrictive environment as long as possible; however, she simply loved attending.
Renae was baptized by Rev. F. L. Clark on November 21, 2005. She loved her church under the guidance of Rev. Ricky McGee and the brothers and sisters there knew and accepted her, for who she was. She also attended Philemon Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Aaron Ruffin; she felt loved and cared for by all.
Renae never met a stranger. Instantly people knew she was unique and special from the time they met her. As her health began to change, she still held on to who she was; she just did things a little different. Her joy and smile were infectious. She loved dancing, joking with people and loved her some ‘Keith Sweat.’ Renae never forgot the time I took her to see him in concert. She enjoyed Wheel of Fortune and though she was not cognizant of time, she always knew when it was time for it to come on.
As I write this Obituary for my sister my mind takes me back to so many joyful experiences with her, that I could actually continue to write for some time; exceeding the limit of this tribute. I know that you also have your stories and memories for Renae. If she knew you, she loved you.
