Services for Patsy Dean Shires, 84, of Allen, are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Allen First Baptist Church, Revs. Chad Kaminski and Coy Howry will officiate. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Allen Chapel from 4:00 p.m. Tuesday until service time.

Mrs. Shires died Sunday, January 1, 2017 at a local nursing home. She was born September 12, 1932 in Pottsboro, TX to Frank and Myrtle Goodale Cockburn. The Shires family came to Allen in 1958 from the Pottsboro and Denison, TX area.

She married Joe Shires on July 4, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2015. She was a homemaker and a active member of the Allen First Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Kenny Shires and wife Johnna of Allen, Terry Shires and wife Janet of Tioga, TX, and Randy Shires and Becky of White Settlement, TX; one sister, Barbara Wilson of Weatherford, TX; a niece, Darlene Davis and husband Jim of Pottsboro, TX; grandchildren, Russhel Chancey and husband Phillip, Chance Shires and wife Jerrica, Tracy Shires and wife Marcia, Alicia Cole and husband Hunter and Scotty Shires and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Bobbye Dooley and a granddaughter, Beth Brosz.

Bearers will be Jearl Knighten, Donny Johnson, Wally Lewis, Fred Barrett, Donnie Pipkin and H. C. Spain.
