On April 5th, 2017 Juanita Tennie (Kennedy) Erwin went home to be with her Lord and many of her family members. She was a resident of Augusta, Kansas where she had lived since 2005, when she passed away.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 8th at Criswell Funeral Home in Ada, Oklahoma. Viewing for family and friends will be Friday, April 7th from 5 to 7 p.m at the funeral home. Internment will be following the service at the Allen, Oklahoma Cemetery.
Juanita was 95, she was born in Allen, Oklahoma, September 3rd, 1921 to Letha and Charlie Kennedy. She attended Allen schools and lived around the area all her life, until moving to Kansas. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Marshall Erwin and they spent over 30 years on the 4B ranch near Allen. Juanita was a medicine nurse and retired from the Jan Francis nursing facility in Ada.
Juanita loved traveling the states with Marshall and even going abroad with daughter Judy, in later years. She also enjoyed, fishing, quilting, crocheting, going to First Baptist in Allen and visiting with her many friends. She also loved collecting antiques especially, pretty glassware. She loved "winning" at pitch, but was known to be a sore loser! She was the life of every family gathering and could still dance a jig in her later years. Juanita was a cat lover, sometimes to the extreme!
Juanita is survived by brother Floyd Kennedy of Raytown Missouri, daughter, Judy Young (Bob) of Merritt Island, Florida, son Jim Erwin of Ada, and son Harold Erwin (Beverly) of Augusta, Kansas. She leaves 6 grandchildren, Jeff Erwin (Lynnette), Guthrie and Lynna Erwin, Melissa Tilton (Frank), Michelle Brown (Robert), Jay Erwin (Nicole). Juanita also was blessed to have 23 great grandchildren, Bailee, Kayli, London, Emily, Frankie, Joe, Oliver, Grace, Nini, Hannah (Devin), Lydia (Joseph), Jubal, Micah, Joel. Brenna, Javan, Justus, Jack, Sarah, Sophia, Briggs, Zander, and Westen. She also leaves one great great grandson, Beau and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marshall, infant son James Charles, brother Calvin, sisters Coy May, Freda, Lucille, and Betty Jo and granddaughter, Lori Hill.
