Jerry Lee Edwards, 78, was born October 24, 1940, in Frederick, Oklahoma to Joddie Lee Edwards and Vera Lee Caddell. He passed away on August 23, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jerry graduated from Frederick High School where he was active in FFA and was on the 1956 state champion Frederick Bombers High School football team which was inducted into the 2007 Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.

Jerry was married to Gwendolyn Sue Stout on August 1, 1957 in Vernon, Texas. Jerry spent most of his life in Allen, Oklahoma. Earlier this month, they celebrated 62 years of marriage. He was an active member of the Church of Christ where he taught Sunday school. He lived his life as an example to others with his one-on-one charity and heart-felt connections. Jerry worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 33 years where he was recognized with several awards including his work as a lineman. He was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers. Jerry loved spending time with his family, early mornings at the coffee shop, working outside, riding horses and helping others.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Joddie and Vera Edwards; and his brother Bobbie Edwards. He is survived by his wife, Sue Edwards of the home; his brother, Lewis Edwards and his wife, Sandy, of Allen, Texas; his children, Tacy Marlene Edwards Olivo and husband, Terry, of Allen, Oklahoma, Tanya Kaye Edwards Smith and husband, Dennis, of Macomb, Oklahoma, Tonda Suzette Edwards Stout and husband, Tim, of Springdale, Arkansas, and Jerry Blake Trevor Edwards of Allen, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Kala Olivo Sharp, Lana Olivo Beasley, Alisha Smith Howard, David Smith, Jeremy Edwards, and Daniel Smith; his great-grandchildren, Brayden Edwards, Lexani Edwards, Grace Beasley, Jae Sharp, Ben Beasley, Sam Sharp, Avery Howard, and Benjamin Howard; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 26 at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel in Ada, Oklahoma where Bud Ross will officiate. Interment will follow at the Allen Cemetery with Scott Wintz. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Cancer Treatment Centers of America’s “Assistance in Healthcare Tulsa” which supports cancer patients and their families.
