Ruth May Davis age 98 left this earth for her eternal home on Friday, March 25, 2016. Ruth was the sixth of 13 children born to William ‘Will’ Vinson and Suzie Melton Vinson on November 19, 1917.
Ruth was born, raised and lived in Hughes County, Oklahoma, for 70 years and spent the last 28 years in Arkansas with her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth worked side-by-side in the fields with her husband. She also worked over 10 years for McCall’s Chapel. Ruth enjoyed her family, raising a garden, canning its produce and quilting.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 50 plus years, O.E. Davis; eight brothers (Arthur, Cecil, James, Charlie, A.J., C.B., Floyd and Junior Vinson) and one sister (Nora Lee Baker).
Ruth is survived by two sons, William Baxter Davis (Charlaine) of Mtn. View, Arkansas, and Ronnie Joe Davis (Leisa) of Conway, Arkansas; five grandsons, William (Janice), David (Tina), Benjamin (Jenny) all of Mtn. View, Clayton (Sarah) of Conway and Reece (Dana) of Austin, Texas; four great-grandsons, (Steven Calaway, Brian, Adam and Seth Davis); six great-granddaughters, (Amber, Allison, Ashley, Niki, Danielle and Kinley Davis; two brothers, Carl Vinson (June) and Robert L. Vinson all of Allen; a sister Betty Bolin of Ada; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm Monday, The Rev. Phillip Vinson will officiate. Burial will follow at Allen Cemetery.
