Shirley Kay Brown, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 17, 2023, in McAlester, Oklahoma. Shirley was known for her kindness, love, and generosity throughout her life. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home in McAlester, Oklahoma. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 10:00 am at Mt. Zion Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma, where Shirley will be laid to rest. Shirley was born October 12, 1950 to Red and Jewel Loggins in California. She is survived by her husband, Bob Brown Sr., and their loving children, Bobby Brown Jr., Elijah Brown, Elmer Brown, Hope Lee and Michelle Brown. Shirley was also a proud grandmother to Nashoba Brown, Nita Brown, Dakota Brown, Emily Brown, Jessica K'Lynn Wunsch, Noah Lee, Caitlin Brown, Masheli Bowers and Matthew Brown. Shirley is also survived by her dear cousin, Pam Chaves and daughter in-law Monique Warden. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, grandchildren, Apela Bowers and Luksi Bowers. Shirley earned her Master's degree in Social Work and dedicated her career to helping others. Her passion for her work was evident in the countless lives she touched and the positive impact she made on her community. Shirley's love for her family and friends was boundless, and she was known for her kind, caring, and forgiving nature. In her free time, Shirley enjoyed tending to her garden, cooking delicious meals for her loved ones, and sewing and crocheting beautiful creations. She also had a interest in and enjoyed genealogy. Above all, Shirley's greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren, whom she adored. Shirley's legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her warmth and generosity.
