Ravenna Jo Waldrip, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 23, 2023, in Stuart, Oklahoma. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a visitation on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home in McAlester, Oklahoma. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the North A Street Church of Christ in McAlester, Oklahoma. The burial will follow at White Chimney Cemetery near Stuart. Pallbearers will be Jermaine Riddle, Joe Riddle Jr., Joseph Johnson, Devin Waldrip, Ronnie Schultz, and Haston Schultz. Honorary Pallbearers are John Swing, Chuck Horton, Lee Dobbs, Donovan Tullier, Billy West, and Mark Sanchez. Ravenna Jo Waldrip was born on August 10, 1939 to Willis "Bud" Charles Horton and Tressa Opal (Cummins) Horton in Scipio, Oklahoma. Ravenna Jo was the oldest of 11 children. The Horton clan grew up in and around the Scipio area. Ravenna went to Indianola High School and graduated in June of 1958. After high school Ravenna went to work in the medical field. She worked as a Nurse/Medication Aide in nursing homes. In her later years Ravenna worked as a Home Health Provider until she retired. Ravenna lived in Grand Prairie, Texas with her husband Bob and their children until his passing in 1987. She then moved back to Oklahoma. She resided in McAlester until 2020 when she moved to Stuart, Oklahoma to live with her daughter Jeana until her passing. She was a life-time member of the North A Street Church of Christ. Ravenna is preceded in death by her parents: Willis Charles Horton and Tressa Opal (Cummins) Horton; husband: Robert Ferris "Bob" Waldrip; siblings: Sharon Dobbs, Bobby Horton, Linda Shawn, Brenda Williamson, Glen Horton, and Melva Chandler; and her grandsons: Gary Lynn Weeks Jr., Generro Sanchez, and Layton Neal Mayo. Ravenna is survived by her children: Gary Lynn Weeks and wife Sabrina of Poteau, Oklahoma, Robert Ferris Waldrip Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Jeana Marie Schultz and husband Kevin of Stuart, Oklahoma; special daughter: Michelle Garcia of Grand Prairie, Texas; brothers: Charles Horton of Benicia, California, LeRoy Horton and wife Lea of Port Orchard, Washington, and Lee Dobbs of McAlester, Oklahoma; sisters: Virginia Hooe and husband Robert of Canton, Georgia, and Debra Horton of Arlington, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 7 special grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
