Rebecca Kay Weeks, affectionately known as Becky, passed away on Monday April 22, 2024 in Tulsa. The Family will greet friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2024 at Life Church officiated by Rev. Terren Anderson and Rev. Ricky Kerns. Burial will follow at Ulan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, David Kerns, Joe Dale Romine, Sean Carney, Justin Kerns, Donnie Snow and Braden Kerns Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Barnes, Dwayne Romine and her Crowder School Administrative and Staff Co-Workers; Memorial contributions may be made in Becky's name at Bancfirst in McAlester to help with medical expenses. Rebecca Kay was born to Lynn Edward and Lawanna Kay (Kerns) Weeks on October 10, 1975 in Millington, Tennessee. Becky's early life laid the foundation for her lifelong passion for education. She graduated from McAlester High School in 1994. Becky's commitment to learning led her to Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College in Moore, followed by a Bachelor's degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Master's degree in Education from East Central University. Her academic achievements were a testament to her dedication and hard work. Professionally, Becky devoted 20 years as a pre-kindergarten teacher at Crowder School. She began as a teachers aid in Krebs and Haywood. Her loved for her students was evident in the joy she found in their growth and accomplishments. Becky was a cherished figure in the school community, known for the kind way she nurtured her students from their early steps in education to their strides into adulthood. Becky's life was rich with relationships and activities that reflected her generous and kind nature. She was an active member of Life Church, where she taught the Young Singles Class for several years, sharing her faith and wisdom with gratitude and grace. Her creative soul found joy in arts and crafts, particularly those involving paper and stickers, which allowed her to express her artistic side and bring happiness to others. Travel and shopping were among Becky's favorite pastimes, experiences she often shared with her mother, Kay and her dear friends, Lisa and Leslie. These adventures brought, laughter, new discoveries, and cherished memories that will be held dear by all who accompanied her. Becky was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Buel and Arizona (Mason) Kerns; paternal grandparents, Edward Gene and Marrie (Prescott) Weeks; father, Lynn Edward Weeks; uncles, Gerald Kerns, Thurrell Kerns, Larry George Grant, Larry Romine, Ronnie Romine and Calvin Carney; aunts, Gloria Carney, Linda Kerns and Annette Grant; cousins, Randy Kerns, Terry Lee Kerns, Jaelon Kerns and Terry Lee Romine. Becky's legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her mother, Kay Weeks; brother, Brett Weeks and wife, Kendice; her adored nieces and nephews, , Kaysie Weeks, Megan Riley and husband, Jaymin, Kristen Odell and husband, D.J., Tayler Howard and husband, Tyler, Mikaya Rogers and fiance, John Kosztak, Brett Weeks, II and wife, Abigail; as well as her 15 great nieces and nephews, Paiten Allen, Chaslee Powell, Serenity Powell, Gracelynn Weeks, Olivia Weeks, Penelope Weeks, Sophia Johnson, C.J. Johnson, Janson Odell, Emberlyn Odell, Zaiden Greer, Xander Kelton, Zoey Kelton, Seth Janaway and Kailor Kosztak; aunts and uncles, Darlene Romine, Naomi Romine, Gale Kerns and Mike McGirt, Dwight Kerns and wife, Evelyn, Ricky B. Kerns and wife, Pam, Joel K. Kerns and wife, Darcy; 27 first cousins; special friends, Lisa Lalli and Leslie Cole; numerous other family members and friends. Becky will be remembered for her kindness, adventure and generosity. Her impact on the lives of her students, the love she shared with her family, and the joy she brought to her friends, will continue to resonate. Becky's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, learning and laughter, a legacy that will be remembered and honored by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
