Michael Ray Kerns, 44, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City after a long illness. The family will greet friends on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Chaney Harkins Funeral Home Chapel with Jamie Kirkpatrick officiating. The burial will follow at Ulan Cemetery, Ulan Community, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Zachary Kerns, Caleb Kerns, Justin Kerns, Ricky Lott, Jesse Old, and Jason Foutch. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Lott, Derek Cox, Jarrod Foutch, Eric Foutch, Curtis Lott, Jesse Lott, Tyler Lott, and Van Foutch Michael was born on October 22, 1977 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Danny Ray Kerns and Kathy Diann (Lott) Kerns. He graduated from McAlester High School with the Class of 1996. Michael joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his military service, Michael remained in California for work. He worked as an aviation electronics technician for the Department of Defense. His career in radar allowed him to travel all around the world. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, watching OU football, playing the Banjo, and driving his 2011 Chevrolet Camaro. Michael joins his maternal grandfather: George Lott; his paternal grandparents: Reece and Ruth Kerns; and uncles: Dwayne Kerns, and Jay Lewis in heaven. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents: Danny Kerns and Kathy (Lott) Kerns; his brother: Joe Kerns; his sister: Lindsey Kerns; his nieces and nephews: Hayden Kerns and wife, Brittany, Kayla Kerns, Jacob Kerns-Kirk, Kamdyn Kerns, Karlee Kirk, Macelee Barker; his great nephews and niece: Baylor, Bryar, Coy, Kaylee, and Kaison; his maternal grandmother: Oleta Lott; his aunts and uncles: Kim Lewis, Richard Lott and wife, Mary, Paula Kerns, Mary Foutch and husband, Van, Jean Kerns, and many cousins and other family and friends.
