On May 18, 1957 Odrey married her husband, John Walters in McAlester, Oklahoma. For 30 years, Odrey's life was with dedication and service as she worked in production with explosives, often undertaking the essential mobile traveling at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant. Her commitment to the role was profound, and her expertise was recognized by all who worked alongside her until her well-earned retirement in June of 1993. Beyond her professional life, Odrey's passions painted the picture of a life well-lived and full of joy. An avid dominos player, she would often be found skillfully outmaneuvering her opponents with a tactful hand. Her fondness for fishing near Crowder Point, Oklahoma, was more than just a pastime; it was where she found peace, contentment, and sometimes the thrill of the catch amid nature's beauty. Born into a family where music was the heart of the home, Odrey carried the tradition throughout her life. She possessed a melodious voice and strummed the guitar beautifully. With her family by her side, harmonizing and playing, they created more than just music; they crafted a legacy of love and unity. But above all, the centerpiece of Odrey's world was her family. She poured her love and energy into her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, teaching them life's valuable lessons and reveling in their accomplishments. Her love for them was boundless, and the precious moments spent together are now treasured memories that will continue to inspire and guide them through life. Odrey's legacy is one of unyielding love, resilience, and the beautiful simplicity of finding happiness in life's everyday moments. As we bid farewell to Odrey Ethel Walters, we do so with gratitude for the time we had with her and the knowledge that her impact will be felt for generations to come.
