James Allen "Jay" Truly, 61, of McAlester, died Thursday, August 27, 2021 in McAlester. The family will greet friends and visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Richard Dominic. Burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cody Vaughn, Brent Haynie, Randy Hass, Brent Owens, Jordan James, and Joe Watts. Honorary pallbearers will be Sheriff Chris Morris, Under Sheriff Frankie McClendon, Don Hass, Steve Nave, Brandon Wilkins, and Daryl Dayton. Jay was born on December 4, 1959 in Lawton. He graduated high school in Lawton. He worked in law enforcement spanning over 30 years. He worked for the Sand Springs Police Department, retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Anadarko, and currently was a Sergeant for the Pittsburg County Sheriff's Department. He married Leslie McLemore on February 18, 1995 in Bugtussle. Jay enjoyed woodworking, working with his hands, and always kept a meticulous yard at his home. He especially enjoyed helping people and his family. Jay was preceded in death by his father: Louis Truly, his mother: Carolyn Brown, and maternal grandparents: James and Wilma Brown. He is survived by his wife: Leslie (McLemore) Truly of the home; his sons: James Nicholas "Nick" Truly and wife, Traci of Durant, Justin "Jay" McLemore and wife, Stacy of Hartshorne, and Jared McLemore of McAlester; his grandchildren: Brittany, Garrett, and Jaden Schafer, Draxxin Snow, Ty, Skye, and Riley McLemore; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jimmy and Carol Painter of Tannehill; and other family members and friends.
