Nelda Corine (Cobb) Trammell, 83, formerly of McAlester, OK passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 27, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Services will be 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel in McAlester, OK with Scott Walker officiating. Committal and interment will follow at Tannehill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be her brother, Gene Cobb, long time family friends and loved ones, Charles Pickel, Charles "Rudy" Poole, William P. Bowden, James Clay, the late J.C. Wright and the late Owen L. Sugg. Nelda was born on February 13, 1938 in McAlester to Doke and Verna (Teague) Cobb. She and her two brothers were raised on the family farm in the community of Rockford where she also attended grade school in the one room schoolhouse. She graduated Indianola High School where she excelled on the basketball team, as well as a member of the competitive automobile Drivers Education team. She married James P. Trammell of Kemp OK, in a home ceremony in Indianola, OK on June 25, 1958, where she began her life as an Air Force wife, which would span the next 16 years. The family was stationed at various Air Force bases on both the East and West coasts of the United States. She was an avid bowler in base wives bowling leagues, and loved being the Team mom for every sport their son Jimmy was playing. She stayed active until her husband retired from the Air Force in 1974, when they moved to their farm in Morrilton Arkansas, raising cattle until 1979; from there they settled in Arpelar, Oklahoma. It was here where they had a small farm and raised Beefmasters cattle while James made a living as an independent truck driver. She was an excellent gardener, superb at canning and active representative of Mary Kay cosmetics for many years. She made great friendships and thoroughly enjoyed quilting and making crafts with her local ladies group. Nelda was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, McAlester, OK. In her later years, she and James moved to Choctaw, OK enjoying family close by and the company of their wonderful neighbors. Nelda received final nursing care from the kind and compassionate staff at Meadowlake Assisted Living in Oklahoma City. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, James P. Trammell; son and daughter-in-law, James W. "Jimmy" and Marjorie B. Trammell of Midwest City, OK; granddaughter, Samantha Trammell of Oklahoma City, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Della Cobb of Marlow, OK. Sister-in-law Trish Anderson and husband Den, Denison, TX. Other survivors include nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents Doke and Verna Cobb of McAlester as well as her older brother Leo Cobb and sister-in-law Shirley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Raymond and Juanita Trammell.
