Deyne Tannehill, 92, of McAlester, died June 9, 2021 at her home in the Tannehill community. The family will greet friends and visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2021 at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Rodney Briggs. Burial will follow at Tannehill Cemetery. She was born Burna Deyne Hobbs on May 28, 1929 in Texas to Lena Bell (Roark) Hobbs and Tommy Hobbs. Deyne grew up in Durant where she graduated high school and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She also attended three annual schools of instruction for County Treasurers at Oklahoma University in Norman. She married Joseph Charles Tannehill on June 4, 1948 in Durant. Deyne worked in the County Treasurer's Office for over 30 years. The last 14 years of that time she served as Pittsburg County Treasurer. She retired in January of 1990. Deyne was a longtime member of both the First and Second Baptist Churches of McAlester. She is survived by her son: Mike Tannehill, granddaughter: Brandee Tannehill, Brandee's mother: Patty Fuller, all formerly of Fort Worth, Texas now living in McAlester. She also has numerous nieces and nephews living in Texas and Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her mother: Lena Hobbs-Spradlin; father: Tommy Hobbs; husband: Joe Tannehill; and sisters: Dorothy Lockhart, Delois Townsend, and Sue Hurst. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Heartland Hospice Care in McAlester.
