Lillian LaVenna (Martin) Johnson, 94, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024 at home surrounded by love. Family will greet friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Tannehill Cemetery in Tannehill, Oklahoma. David Fisher will be officiating. Lillian was born to Leonard Martin and Myrtle (Crone) Martin on November 27, 1929 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Lillian married William "Harry" Johnson in June 1952 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Lillian was a respiratory therapist at the Medical Center in Sherman, Texas. Lillian's life was a testament to her faith, as she was a devoted member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in McAlester. Lillian found joy in square dancing, and had a green thumb, particularly when it came to planting irises. Lillian enjoyed taking care of her family and cooking. Lillian is preceded in death by her husband: Harry Johnson; parents: Leonard Martin and Myrtle (Crone) Martin; brothers: Lewis Martin, Kenneth Martin; sisters: Reola Fisher, LaVerne Wood. Lillian is survived by daughters, Venna Hamel of the home, Katrina and husband, Rodney Cobb of Sherman, Texas; son, Duane Johnson and wife, Carol of Summerville, South Carolina; sister, Rita Sue Cannon of Canadian, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Albert Hamel and wife, Lea of Duncan, Micah Hamel and Partner, Jessica of McAlester, Boyd VanderGriff and Wife, Bree of Denison, Kayla Beth Wells of Boswell, Oklahoma, Hunter Johnson, and wife, Erin of Virginia, Houston Johnson of Summerville, South Carolina, Hudson Johnson of Summerville, South Carolina; along with numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
