Douglas Henry "Doug" Hyden, 55 of McAlester died Monday, December 30, 2024 in McAlester. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2025 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Chaplain David Jordan. Burial will follow in Tannehill Cemetery. A reception will be held following the funeral service at 5:00 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2025 at the McAlester Country Club. Pallbearers will be, James Davis, Tony Kiefer, Stanton Souther, Randy Laudermilk, Les Harrison and Chris Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Moss, Michael Hyden, Matthew Hyden and Andy Hyden. Doug was born to Eden Henry Hyden and Judy (Vaughn) Hyden on January 22, 1969 in McAlester. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1987 and Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton in 1989. Doug married Paula Jo Cross on January 1, 1993 in Springdale, Arkansas. Doug worked as an air traffic control specialist for Leidos and Lockhead Martin Aviation in Ft. Worth, Texas. Doug's children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. There was nothing that Doug liked better than spending time with his children and grandchildren going to parks and riding the golf cart. He was an avid OU Sooner fan. He enjoyed watching any and all OU sports, especially with his family. He had a passion for card games and enjoyed playing blackjack and spades. He also enjoyed the challenge of rolling the dice when playing craps. Doug enjoyed life, his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Hyden; mother, Judy Jackson; step-mother, Rita Jane Hyden; brother, Robert Harrison and wife, Geraldine; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Rosie Hyden; maternal grandparents, Argie and Gladys Vaughn. Doug is survived by his wife, Paula of the home; daughter, Hailey Kiefer and husband, Tony of McAlester; sons, Christopher Moss and wife, Rebecca of Aurora, Colorado; Michael Hyden and wife, Morgan of McAlester; Matthew Hyden of the home; grandchildren, Mars Moss of Aurora, Colorado, Anthony Kiefer, Keeley Kiefer, Malachi Hyden, Mavric Hyden all of McAlester; sisters, Kathleen Shew and husband, Buddy of Abernathy, Texas, Holly Stachmus and husband, Darrell of McAlester, Kerry Dailey of Krebs, Jennifer Taylor and husband, Bill of Rockwall, Texas; brother, Andy Hyden of McAlester; numerous special cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
