Richard Lee Everett, 71, of McAlester, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at his residence. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday, January 5, 2015 at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Pastor Terren Anderson and Pastor Keith Stanford officiating. Interment will be at Tannehill Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Richard was born December 6, 1943 in Petrolia, Texas to William and Carrie Everett. He grew up in Texas and joined the U.S. Army. Following his service in the military, Richard lived in Houston, Texas where he owned and operated an Exxon Service Station. On May 11, 1987, he married Louise Snow in McAlester, Oklahoma. In Pittsburg County, Richard owned and operated a feed store in Indianola and, most recently, had a seventeen year career at Wal-Mart in McAlester. Richard loved country living. He enjoyed horseback riding and sitting on the porch with his nephew, Don, and drinking a beer. He also enjoyed cooking and baking, especially pies, and was fond of traveling and taking cruises. Richard was an avid Texas Longhorns fan and tolerated OU. He enjoyed watching sports and westerns. He is survived by his wife: Louise Everett of the home; children: Richard Lee Everett, Jr. of Los Angeles, California, Alexander Everett of Houston, Texas, Theresa Al-Asmar of Houston, Melissa Marino of McAlester, Rena Everett of McAlester; stepson: Thomas Grippando of Hartshorne; grandchildren: Richard Lee Everett, III, Mallary McKenzie and husband, Gabe, Terri Ann Harmon, Paul Harmon, Jr, Joseph Al-Asmar, Jacob Al-Asmar, Sarah Al-Asmar, Heather McGuire, Brazdon Lee Everett. Also, special grandchildren: Loren Cox, Ryan Staples, Audre Gail Johnston; siblings: Bill Everett of Waurika, Mary Granger of South Carolina, Dottie Lacey of McAlester, Frankie Bowden of Choctaw, Jim Wilson of Irving, Texas; special niece and nephew: Ann and Don Williams of McAlester; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Carrie Everett; brothers: Ralph Everett, Lynn Everett, Paul Everett, and Carl Wilson; a granddaughter: Julie; and the mother of his children: Alta Everett. Pallbearers will be Don Williams, Craig Kennedy, Glynn Whitaker, Bobby Cox, Michael Everett, and David Everett. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Joslin, Jim Scott, Larry Boggess, Gary Boggess, James Boggess, Jimmy Boggess, Mark Johnston, Kevin Johnston, Phillip Smith, and Al Hayes.
