Shirley J. Blevins, 69, of Indianola, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas. The family will conduct a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022 at Tannehill Cemetery with the burial of cremains to follow. Shirley was born on June 22, 1952 in Savanna to Ernest and Essie (Green) Payne. She graduated from McAlester High School and worked as a clerk for number of businesses in McAlester including J.J. McAlester's Mercantile, Gibson's, PB Liquor, and 2nd Stop. She also was a bartender at Cowboy's. She enjoyed fishing in her younger years; later enjoying bird watching, reading, and watching westerns on the television. Shirley also enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Shirley is survived by her son-in-law: Larry Romine of Indianola; grandchildren: Gary Romine and Krystal Bess of Canadian, Sierra Cheatwood and husband, Ronnie of Indianola, and Caitlynn Romine and Colton Sepeda of McAlester; great-grandchildren: Grayson Bess, Everly Daney, Ensley Cheatwood, Emersyn Cheatwood, Elsie Cheatwood, and Lani Sepeda (due June 15); sister-in-law: Virginia Joyce Wallis of McAlester; brother-in-law: Allen Burkett of Chouteau; and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents: Ernest and Essie Payne; daughter: Lani Rebecca (Blevins) Romine; brothers: Tom Wallis, Don Wallis, and Tony Wallis; and sisters: Linda Burkett and Leona Lawson.
