B.W. "Bill" "Sonny" Wingo, 91 of McAlester died Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his residence. The family will greet friends 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 6th, 2024 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Bishop Chapel of Memories officiated by Bobby Wingo and Bob Wingo. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery with military honors provide by the Robert B. Thomas VFW Post 1098. Masonic rites will be recited by Mr. Ed Palmer. Pallbearers will be, Terry Johnson, Wayne Wingo, Jimmy Harold Wingo, Toy Wingo, Tommy Fry and Dillon Weddle. Honorary pallbearers will be, Michael Lewis, Jimmy G. Ulibarri, Zach Parham and fellow members of the Staples Lodge #117. B. W. was born to B. P. and Neoma M. (Browning) Wingo on April 14, 1933. He graduated from Crowder High School. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He started his education at Oklahoma Agriculture & Mechanical training in diesel mechanics In Okmulgee and graduated on April 24, 1957. After realizing it just wasn't for him, He attended Oklahoma barber college where he became a licensed barber In Oklahoma City on October 22, 1957. He owned and operated Midway Barbershop in McAlester for over 60 years. He married Frances Antoinette (Bristow) Lampkin on November 25, 1974 in Wilburton. Bill raised cattle and goats and enjoyed going fishing and vegetable gardening. Bill was also a long-time member of Staples Lodge #117 in Kiowa. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, B. P. and Neoma Wingo; wife, Frances A. Wingo; grandson, Joshua Schooler; sisters, Emogene Clawson, Imadeen Meltabarger; step-sons, William "Shannon" Lampkin and Phillip "Shawn" Lampkin. He is survived by first wife, Theda DiSilvestro; daughter, Melodie Schooler-Jones; son, Mark Wingo and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Misty Thompson and husband, Jesse, Derrick Wingo and wife Randi, Ethan Wingo, Weston Wade Wingo, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; step-children, Deborah Vincent and husband, Spencer, Jill Green and husband, Rondall, Mandy VanVeKoven; Dana Lampkin; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; sister, Sue Hodges; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Bill will be missed but never forgotten.
