Edward Yarbrough was born on Sept. 7, 1942 in Durant to Virgil and Lola Mae (Biggs) Yarbrough. His family came to Savanna when he was young and he has lived there all his life. He graduated from Savanna High School and, soon after, joined the U. S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge he returned to Savanna, and in 1973 he married Linda Bloxham. Edward worked at the Army Ammunition Plant as a Boiler Fireman, retiring in 1993 after 31 years of service. Edward gave to his community by serving on the Savanna Public School Board of Education for a few years. He and his wife, Linda, also served as foster parents for numerous physically disadvantaged children for over 30 years. In his spare time, Edward liked to fish and he bowled in a bowling league in McAlester. He also coached his kids in little league sports when they were young. If he were watching TV, it's most likely he was watching some kind of sports; he particularly loved to watch OU football. More recently, he was totally devoted to his grandkids, spending time with them and watching and helping them in all their endeavors. He was a member of the Savanna Baptist Church. Edward is survived by his wife, Linda Yarbrough; children, Eddie Yarbrough and Karen and Billie Jo Bullock and J. P.; 2 long term foster children, Patricia Dean and Kenneth Pearson; grandchildren, Dexter Spence and Dasha, Lindi Spence, Dalton spence and Addison Hicks, Mason Yarbrough, Peyton Yarbrough, Riley West, and Landry Bullock; great grandchildren, Chesnee Rodgers, Harleigh Rodgers, Wyatt Rodgers, Pepper Spence, Baine Spence, and Brixx Spence; a sister, Helen Intemann.
