Jimmie David Davis, 78, of Savanna, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, at Mercy Hospital in Ada. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept.29, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Savanna with Rev. Randal Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Savanna Cemetery. Pallbearers are Lee Anderson, Don Capps, Tom Reeder, Haskell Melton, Jeff Graham and Nick Waller. Honorary pallbearers are members of Jimmie's Sunday School Class. Jimmie David Davis was born on Dec. 15, 1942 in McAlester to Albert "Jack" Davis and Iva Mae (Leird) Davis. He grew up in the Brewer area, near Savanna, and has lived there all his life. He married Maxine Massey on June 23, 1962 in McAlester. Jimmie was very knowledgeable about cars and car parts. He worked at McCann Chevrolet and Fitter Chevrolet for 27 years as a mechanic, wrecker driver, and when he retired, he was working in their parts department. He also owned his own show car, a 1956 Chevy Belair, and he and his wife enjoyed taking it to car shows around the state. He was an active member of the Savanna Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years before retiring. He also liked to ranch and enjoyed working with his cattle. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Maxine Davis; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie Davis, II and Teresa; grandchildren, Britney Waller and husband Nick, Mackenzie Davis, Cassidy Woody and husband Kyle, and Josh Yates and wife Kayla; great grandchildren, Harlan Waller, Tenley Waller, Addison Yates, Landry Woody, Brentlee Woody, Kain Sanders, Casten Woolsey, Kelby Yates, and Kade Yates; 2 sisters, Judy James, and Jody Amaranto and husband Snookie; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle, Tom Leird.
