George Franklin Perteet, age 85, of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in McAlester, Oklahoma.
Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Bishop Chapel of Memories, with Mr. Matt Judkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Perteet Family Cemetery in Bugtussle, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Perteet, Christopher Perteet Jr., David Drake, Matthew Helmer, John Perteet and Kyle.
George was born on December 16, 1940, in Bugtussle, Oklahoma, to Betty (Perteet) Thrasher. He attended school in Bugtussle and carried those small-town roots with him throughout his life.
On August 1, 1960, George married the love of his life, Mary Ann Douglas, in Wilburton, Oklahoma. Together, they spent many years living in Houston, Texas, before later making their home in McAlester.
George spent his working years as a dedicated truck driver, operating an eighteen-wheeler for numerous companies. He was known for his strong work ethic and took great pride in providing for his family.
In his free time, George enjoyed being with his family, working on cars, and tending to his land. He was meticulous in everything he did. George took immense pride in both his work and the people he loved most.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Douglas) Perteet; his mother, Betty (Perteet) Thrasher; grandfather, Clarence Perteet; and several siblings and siblings-in-law and a granddaughter Crystal Kelly.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Helmer of McAlester and Patti Reeves of Krebs; his sons, George and wife Janice Perteet and John Perteet, both of McAlester; grandchildren, Christopher Perteet, Bridgett McKee, John Perteet, Rachel Vaughn, Michael Perteet, Kimberly Alexander, Matthew Helmer, Susan Carlton, David Drake, Kaitlynn War, Jerry Ford, and Amber Ford; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, Christine Jones and Bobby Thrasher; along with other cherished family members and friends.
