A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 10:00AM at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma. Officiating will be Tony Runyon. Burial will follow under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Active pallbearers will be Drake Hadley, Jet Hadley, Shane Scherman, Ethan Scherman, Riley Scherman, Craig Overton, and Tyler Hadley. Honorary pallbearers will be John Cooksey, Tony Runyon, Guy Blood, Oatmeal, and Michael Lockwood. Irene (Blood) Bailey-Yates was born on March 14, 1925, in Chockie Mountain, Oklahoma. Irene was a loving and passionate woman, known for her generosity and perseverance throughout her life. Irene was born to Guy and Elizabeth (Pollock) Blood and grew up in the close-knit community of Chockie Mountain. Throughout her life, Irene was employed in the food industry, working as both a waitress and a cook. She was particularly known for her delicious pies, which were enjoyed by many. Irene's hardworking nature and dedication to her craft were evident in every dish she prepared. Irene was an avid reader who found solace in the pages of her beloved Bible. She was an active member of Penticostal. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing her with strength and comfort during difficult times. Irene's resilience and perseverance were an inspiration to those around her, as she faced numerous challenges with grace and dignity. In her personal life, Irene was a loving and passionate individual who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her generous spirit shone through in her actions, as she always put the needs of others before her own. Irene's kindness and warmth will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Guy and Elizabeth (Pollock) Blood; her first husband, Bill Bailey, who passed on March 12, 1976; her second husband, Carmel Yates, who passed on August 22, 2004. Irene was also predeceased by her son, Dale Sasnett in 2013; and special niece, Sharon Taylor. Nora is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Sherri Bailey, of Krebs. She also leaves behind special nieces, Lucretia Overton and her husband, Craig, of Bugtussle, and Wanda Jean Langford of Kiowa. Irene's special friend, Oatmeal of Krebs. Irene's legacy will live on in the hearts of her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless other family members and friends. Special thanks to Heartland Hospice nurses and staff members. Along with New Hope nursing home team and nurses Pat, Brandy, and Aubrey.
