Mr. Charles "David" Watlington was born March 11, 1949 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Lucy Clyde Watlington. A graveside service was held at Oak Hill Cemetery Pavilion officiated by Father Kingsley George-Obilonu with military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honors Team. Burial will follow. He was preceded in death by his mother, maternal grandparents, Raymond and Bertha Settle; a brother, Larry Darnell Martin; and a sister, Patricia Ann Johnson. Charles was nicknamed David in his youth by his grandparents and the name followed him until death. David graduated from L’Ouverture High School. He served in the U.S. Army during Viet Nam and was wounded in action. David worked for the Department of Defense at the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant for 43 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in McAlester, Ok. He enjoyed hanging out with his family especially his grandchildren or sitting in his garage on Hwy 69 listening to music and watching the traffic flow. David was united in marriage to Zemedah "Eloise" Smallwood. They were the proud parents of three children David Charles Watlington, Zemedah "Tricee" Watlington, Makibra "Shinaie" Watlington. Those left to cherish his memory one son David (TX), two daughters Tricee Shinaie, three granddaughters Bree (OK), Mercedes (OK), Jaden (TX), one grandson Tyrin Reliford (TX), five great-grandchildren, Sisters: Mae Watlington, Betty Coleman, Pauline Glover, Roberta Watlington, Brother Richard Watlington (GA), several nieces, nephews, ex-wife Eloise Watlington, and devoted friend Melva Webber.
